Don’t Shortchange Yourself, Do An Internship!

Internships, there is nothing more exciting or nerve racking than finding a good internship and fulfilling that internship. Most degrees either require that a student find and fill an internship, or at least give the option. Internships are powerful tools that help you build skills for the future. It also looks amazing on your resume! So, why not do one? If you are getting credit hours toward your degree, what is holding you back?
I’m guessing that you might be just a little scared. This is completely understandable! It is hard, especially if you have to leave the state, everything you have known, and everything that is comfortable to do an internship. If you have a wife and a kid or two, it becomes even harder, especially if the internship is unpaid as quite a few are.
If you can muster up the courage and go fulfill an internship experience, you will be much better off in the long run. I know that some people don’t think it really matters, but it does! As a business owner, they are looking for people with drive and the willingness to sacrifice running through their blood! This is pretty much what an internship entails. It is a sacrifice and a lot of hard work. If you can show potential employers that you are one of those people, you can get a foot in the door and gain a competitive advantage over the other individuals applying for the position you want.
Don’t short change yourself, start looking for an internship as soon as you know you want or need to do one!
